Dark Wolf Pictures proudly presents WELCOME, the team's first feature-length film. The suspense-drama stars Shailene Garnett, Emidio Lopes, Brianna Goldie and 3x Canadian Screen Award Nominee Emmanuel Kabongo.

The film held its premiere in the fall of 2024 at the TIFF Lightbox in Toronto. Stay tuned for details on when and where you can watch the film next!

Emidio Lopes

"When I read the script for the first time, I was scared. Because the story was so unique, it was bold. I haven't really seen somebody tell a story from this perspective. I think a part of me was scared but I was also intrigued because I'm like, damn, this is exciting stuff... we're really going to go there."

Shailene Garnett

"I really love [the character] Sasha because she's full of complexities. And I think she's going to be received very differently from a lot of different people. But she means well. It's fun to explore her positions and to justify them humanely without coming across as a caricature of something negative."

Emmanuel Kabongo

"It was a chance for me to tap into a character that I don't always get a chance to try. I always like these off-kilter characters. They're very intriguing to me. Kind of understand, you know, what goes on mentally with these human beings. And so that's what really pulled me in."

Brianna Goldie

"It's telling a story from multiple perspectives. You know, you can kind of appreciate where all of the characters are coming from. And I think you can maybe deeply relate to all of the characters, whether you're male or female. I think that [this film] captures that pretty well."

Director's Statement

“I really wanted to tell a story that was universal. I wanted to tell a story that could resonate with many people that isn't really told often. The perspectives aren't really shared as openly. That is basically what I want to do with my thread of films.

I grew up on suspense thrillers. It's the genre that got me into filmmaking. But what it lacked for me was depth. The story is where I wanted more, and where I did get that, I got it in dramas. So, what I wanted to do was marry the two genres together – have all the cheap thrills and the cliché moments of what a thriller actually is, but I also wanted to weight the movie with a story that didn't need the thriller genre. I like to be thought-provoking.”

Producer's Statement

“It was a script that I just didn't want to put down when I was reading. It’s definitely something that I can see people getting invested in. Taking the conversation outside of the theater after they've watched it. It’s not something that you could just easily shake off and forget. It adds another layer of, I would say, substance to the genre. It’s pretty rare to see in this genre.”
